You can post or courier the tapes to us and we will transcribe them in Microsoft Word format and e-mail the finished document back to you with a hard copy in the post or fax if you wish.

We charge hourly rates for transcription of any media and the time taken to transcribe a tape depends on the clarity and quality of the recording. As a rough guide, a clear recording of one person speaking would take approximately one hour to transcribe fifteen minutes of tape. Therefore for a clear recording you can assume you will be paying £1 per minute of tape.

Interviews, conferences, telephone conference calls, round table meeting, etc. will almost certainly take longer and we would need to hear an example to give an estimate.

Remember, the clearer the sound quality, the less time it will take us to transcribe your work, which will obviously reduce your costs.

Record in a quiet place, spelling out any technical terms, names and address details etc.

Digital Transcription

We also accept Digital Voice Files (WAV, WMA, MP3 and DSS file formats). You will need a digital voice recorder which will enable you to download the voice files to your PC which you can then attach and e-mail to us, or the necessary software to record directly on to your PC and, similarly, attach and e-mail to us. The new digital voice technology enables you to record and instantly send the recording for transcription. This eliminates the time taken to post or courier tapes.
